Get to Know Scranton through Greg Halpin's Eyes

Welcome to Scranton by Scranton native Greg Halpin paints a portrait of a small town that includes political corruption, a disgraced teacher, and the hilarious misadventures of young men.
It's a wild ride through Scranton in this darkly funny and touching novella about guys in their twenties trying to figure out life in their hometown. The boundaries of friendship are tested as one of them hits rock bottom.
The story takes you deep beneath the cliché of small town life. It offers scenes that make you laugh out loud, situations that make you cringe, and, above all, Scranton itself looms large as the kind of ugly, lovely town that we all know too well.

Creating Happily-Ever-After Stories with Some Spice

Romance novelist Tina Gallagher was raised in Northeast Pennsylvania and in-between softball, basketball, and music lessons, she and her best friend would create their own "happily ever afters" for their favorite soap opera couples. After a while, the soap operas lost their appeal, but the writing never did. She continues to use her imagination to weave stories about heroes and heroines who share deep, lasting relationships.
Tina graduated from the University of Scranton with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. She is a member of Romance Writers of America, Pocono/Lehigh Romance Writers, Greater Lehigh Valley Writers Group, and Liberty States Fiction Writers.

Jack has a real gift. To me, Jack is a positive, uplifting voice who inspires me with his words and his works of art! We're fortunate to have him call Scranton home.

Zummos Brews More than Coffee in Green Ridge

What used to be an old shoe repair shop on Marion Street in Green Ridge is leaving its footprint in the coffee world. Zummo's located at 918 Marion Street is a charming cafe serving breakfast and lunch and its star product Electric City Roasting Company coffee. The coffee tells a story in and of itself and for many of us who frequent the place, it's the welcoming vibe and comfortable atmosphere with seating inside and out that are the soul of Zummo's. The cafe is open weekdays but it's great for those lazy Saturday and Sunday mornings that turn into afternoons before you know it. You'll find people reading newspapers, working on their laptops or chit chatting and laughing with friends.
Owner Mary Tellie is a coffee aficionado, certified cupper, licensed Q Grader with the Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) and a roaster with decades of experience. She has been featured in Roast Magazine, Barista magazine and Milford Magazine. Electric City Roasting Company is a member of the Specialty Coffee Association of America.
So if you enjoy good coffee, like to linger and people watch and want to support a local business, visit Zummo's often!

Joe Van Wie Believes Scranton Is Ready for its Close Up

Scranton's own Joe Van Wie teamed up with a very talented cast, crew, director and producers to deliver the compelling, gritty film "Forged." Be sure to show your support for independent films -a good one by the way - and check out this movie filmed in and around Scranton. I look forward to more projects being filmed in Scranton with someone like Joe making movies happen. There are many beautiful buildings, amazing architecture and gorgeous scenes of nature that make for wonderful backdrops in films of any genre. Scranton is ready for her close up... so let's take a good look and give her the credit she deserves!
